Hello Xray-Fans,

Its wintertime, its M18-Time. I drive the second Winter an original M18 Standard with 6Volt and 370 Motor.
Last weekend the Rear-differential begin to make a "scratch" noise. This differential is Kone-Diff with steel-pin. this pin was glued in the middle position. I glued again and after 2 minutes the scratch-noise comes again.
In this time i become a new dissambled M18 and i want to take one diff out of the new box. In this box i have two different Diff. One is with steel Pin and one is with composite Pin, spring and screw. In the manual i can not find something about this composite Pin. Is this new?????

I fix the composite-Pin-Diff and mount it in my M18 and its the same problem. Two minutes all ok and then the scratch-noise comes when the car comes out of a corner and must accelerate.

What can it be?

Help me urgent, please.....

Sven

The standard gear diffs dont last long on a 370 size motor. You will want to invest in the ball diffs at least for the rear.

The gear diff with the spring and plastic screw is no longer offered. It makes a good front diff if you tighten the screw all the way down.

Hello Mini-me,

thank you for quick answer.

So, the dealer who sell me last week the three new packages with M18 Standard, sell me old pieces. I understand you right that the diff with composite pin, spring and screw is an old version.

Right?

Greetings
Sven

Yes, its the old front end version. The rear end has always been the same. Personally, I like the spring version because you can adjust the tightness. So its actually a bonus you got one of those.
