XRAY M18T Tech Tip: Modification of the Servo Holders

Some servos may get into contact with the central aluminum layshaft and this can brake the free action of the transmission. It is suggested to slightly modify the holder of the servo.

Use a sharp hobby knife and remove the edge of the servo holder as shown.

View on the finished modification of the servo holder.

Safety Precautions:
• Practice using the hobby knife before making this modification.
• Wear safety glasses and gloves.
• Perform this modification in a safe area away from small children.

Post subject:  XRAY XMS01MG Micro Servo - Important Warning!

Use Standard Response Mode radio setting only

Please note that the XMS01MG XRAY Micro Servo is an analog servo and therefore it is required and necessary that you set your radio transmitter to Standard Response Mode, not High Response Mode.

If you set your radio to High Response Mode (or similar), you run the risk that the servo electronics will become damaged, possibly resulting in servo failure.

For more information about setting up your radio, please see the instruction manual supplied with the radio.

When using the #382500 Micro Servo Saver with XRAY M18:

When using stock 12° front upper arms, the servo saver may touch the steering block when the wheels are turned. We suggest removing a small amount of material from the steering block as shown. This issue does not occur when using the optional 6° front upper arms.

M18T Differential Setting and Break-in

Please note that the factory pre-assembled differential is pre-built but is NOT tightened. To enjoy long life and smooth performance of the differential, you need to break in the differential properly.

Run the car for a few minutes and then tighten the diff a small amount. Repeat this procedure several times until the differential is fully tightened or tightened to the point you want it.

To tighten the differential you need to remove the rear left upper arm (for rear diff) - or front right upper arm (for front diff) - to give access into the diff for a Phillips screwdriver. (The differential features a Phillips screw that you can tighten with the included screwdriver.) Insert the tool into the differential screw, hold the other wheel firmly and tighten the screw as desired (turn the screw clockwise).

To loosen the differential follow the same procedure, except turn the diff screw counter-clockwise to loosen.


M18T Rear Toe-in Troubleshooting

If you find that the rear right toe-in is larger than the rear left toe-in, it is because the rear bulkhead assembly has moved while being tightened to the chassis. To fix this problem follow these steps:

1) Loosen the four bottom screws holding the rear bulkhead assembly.
2) Hold the rear right suspension and push it upwards. This will center the rear bulkhead to the chassis.
3) Retighten all four screws.

Verify that the rear toe-in is now equal on left and right.

XRAY M18 Gearbox Pinion Gear Fix

Due to unforeseen production issues out of XRAY's control, the latest batch of composite gearbox pinions (part #385000) are slightly oversize. This was due to slight swelling of the composite material from excess water absorption from the air.


This may possibly result in slight difficulty when installing the ball- bearings on the pinion gear shaft. XRAY recommends using very fine sandpaper to slightly reduce the outer diameter of the gearbox pinion shaft until it is easier to install the ball-bearings.


This problem has been fixed in the following production batch of the kits.

XRAY Micro Parts Cross-reference Table

Now you can download an MS-Excel file that lists all spare parts for XRAY M18, M18T, M18MT, NT18 and NT18T cars, to see which parts fit the various versions of the cars.

Navigation is very easy. Use the drop-down menu at the top to filter your selection. For example, if you want to see only spare parts for the NT18, use the drop-down menu in column "XRAY NT18" and select "X".

You can do combinations of filters. For example, to see which option parts fit NT18 and M18, use the drop-down menu in columns "NT18" and "M18" and select "O" in both columns. This is only one example of the combinations you can do; there are many other combinations you can choose from to match what you are looking for.
