While adjusting my clutch I noticed a small amount of side wards play on the 2 speed shaft about a mm or 2. Is this normal? I can't remember it being like this before. What's the cause of this movement? Thank you.

Remove the gearbox and take a look again.

Could be:
- play on the bearing
- play on the hole for the bearing in the bulkhead
- loose screws in the chassis holding the bulkhead.

There is a bit of sideways play of the entire axle. It is built in the car like this. You can adjust it with shims if necessary but I don't recommend it.
