swords I can't just buy tools over tools...

theoretically you would have to buy that load of tools only for the XII:

3mm turnbuckle (8,- Euro - only used for turnbuckle screw at the front)
4mm turnbuckle (8,- - only used for the servo rods)
1,5mm allen wrench (9,-)
2,0mm allen wrench (9,-)
3/32 inch wrench (9,- - only used for the rear wheel screws)
5,5mm socket driver (13,-)
and of course a reamer, files, knifes, side cutters, scissors and pliers (together about 40 to 80 Euro depending on the quality) which are used for all kinds of kits.

o_0 !!

They say it should be a 3mm screw but it isn't, so I am of the opinion they delivered the wrong screws in the kit not that I have to buy all kinds of tools which aren't even mentioned in the list at the second page of the instruction manual.


Thanks for telling me which is the right tool,

but think about that.....

The allen wrenches you need for assembly the XII is 1,5mm, 2mm, 2,5mm. No 3mm or 3/32 inch

If you need to use other allen wrenches your tool is bad quality and dont have 1,5mm 2mm and 2,5mm.
Or you got the wrong screws or bad screws in your kit.

That was the allen wrenches I needed and they worked realy good.

the 2,5mm should fit, if you convert 3/32 inch you will get 2,38mm the difference is very small...

As I said I have HUDY tools, so I don't think they are bad quality... ;)

@ Flo(h)... you calculated correctly but it doesn't matter the difference is so small; you will destroy the screw and maybe the tip of your tool, too if you use the 3/32 tool.

Maybe in the first delivery Xray put the wrongs screws into the kit and corrected it in the second one - that would explain why some owners don't need a 3/32 screwdriver.

and @swords: cheap tools are in my eyes one of the no-gos in this hobby, I had myself very bad experiences with that.
If you save money here, you save it at the wrong end.

the screws for the rear wheels are M3 the 2,5mm tool fits perfect.

Drove about 20 packs with my XII by now and had no problems.

Nothing broken, easy to drive with tons of steering compared to the CRC of a friend, with whom I changed cars for a pack.

best thing is the diff - still very smooth....

Other question: How did you lubricate the rear ball bearings with the blue cover, or let's say how did you get the very thin blue covers out ? :-D

I tried it with a very sharp hobby knife and later with the head of an injection but I almost desperated. After many attempts I got it out but is there any less complicated way... ?

I simply fitted them into the car. Did nothing on them. Wast of time and effort I think. When neccesary I simply replace them. That won't be often.

About the tools. the tools are not cheap becease there are chinees there arent't the tip has the same quality as other non cheap tools but the grip is not alluminium like the others but nice soft rubber and thats whats make it cheap. There are very very good never broke on. not even a 0.05 inch. I already broke a losi 17EUR 0.05 inch tip.
Stil hudy is the best

Please note that M3x8 screw means that M3 is thread not which tool you have to use. However you are right that in the instruction manual is missing information that you have to use also 2.5mm allen wrench - this is the correct tool that you have to use, even the 2.5mm allen Hudy tool will fit these screws.

Yes, I mixed up sth.. 3mm is the diameter of the thread and the 8 indicates the length in mm excluded the head of the screw (in this case).

What I wanted to say above is, that I am not of the opinion or at least it confuses me that Xray wants us to use inch screws only for the wheel mounting instead of metric screws like at the rest of the kit.
And my 2,5mm is really not fitting.

But however... not that important.

After the confusion here I toke my car and tried the wheelscrews. Have to admit that it's a (very) tight fit but it's 2.5./ m3. My 3"32 is too loose.

At the 1:12th race this weekend in Holland 4 Xray XII cars were on track. The cars looked good and were after qualifying on positions 1 ( Hugo ), 2 ( Bart ) 3 ( Erik ) and 6 Peter Meurs.
In the end the overall win was taken by Hugo vd Berg in front of Bart Wubben with Erik Jonk 4th. Car looked good and was according to the drivers very easy to drive fast.
