Hello

I have now built my XII an I am very impressed, it is the first time I have owned or built an Xray, I can now appreciate what the fans are so passionate about.
The only area I am not sure about is the chassis thickness, Xray have chosen a 2mm chassis where most of the competitors use 2.5mm. In my experience this will give good performance on tarmac and slippy carpet but may be too flexible for high grip surfaces.
Will Xray be offering a stiffer chassis option?

I can not tell about the stiffness but it is wrong to think that a one brand 2.5mm plate is stiffer than another brand 2mm carbon plate.

Stiffnes in carboon fiber is not just thicknes.

It depends more on how its made.

My old carpetknife 1:12 chassie feels more stiff (2,4mm) than my XII, but the XII is about 0,4sek faster per lap than the carpetknife on a what i think high grip carpet track.
the records for me is 7,92sek/lap with XII and 8.4sek/lap with carpetknife.

realize that the stiffness modulus is all dependent on the carbon layup. I have several chassis that are 2.5mm and they all flexdifferently.

food for thought..

The stock chassis is 2.0mm which is great for low and medium traction tracks which is the typical condition for the majority of club level racing. For extra high grip conditions the stiffer chassis will be available shortly.

In the news coming to the distributors the part number will be presented for both chassis and rear POD. Both parts are in production and will start shipping shortly.
