I've had the battery door open occasionally on my XB8 (6 roughly times in a few years), however the clip still held it in place. I would guess that it usually happened after a few too many flips that 'normally' doesnt happen ... <cough>

On another note, I'd like to know what some of you have had good luck with on tire styles/Manufacture and what style of insert/manufacture that worked well with it on dry, dusty tracks. Please note if you are using a buggy or truggy and if you are using a standard offset wheel or not with the truggy.

Dry dusty track:
Truggy: Pro-Line Holeshots with stk inserts, I also like the Bow-ties as they have excellent forward bite. Stock XRay wheels

Buggy: Pro-Line M2 Crimefighters stik inserts, if it blue grooves, M2 Knuckles. I pretty much only run Crimefighters, bow-ties on the buggy don't have enough side bite I think and make the car harder to drive the same speed as you can with the crimefighters.

Thanks for your notes Rocco. Has anyone tried Ofna inserts in the Xray Thrax tires? Soft/Orange or Hard/Yellow? Wil they even fit properly?

On the buggy the Bowties wear out to fast for me. I have had good luck with running M2 Bowties in the front and M2 Crimes in the back, all running Ofna orange inserts. Bowties still wore out too fast.
I switched to Panther (MS) Dragons 1 in the front, with (s or SS) Dragon 2's in the back with Ofna orange inserts and it has seemed to work very good. If you enter turns hard this wont be your combination, however if you enter slower and accelerate hard coming out it seems to work the best for me......

XT8 stock kit tires (Thrax) are crimefighters, right?

TQ and the win yesterday,,whoohoo :D . The XT8 keep drawing blood on the competiton.

BTW, I took a full speed front hit by a 11 lb CRT yesterday. The XT8 didnt even wimper. cracked my Jconcepts body tho', didnt like that. Really nice guy apologized several times, kept asking me to tell him if something was broken, and if there was, he would pay for it. Thought that was cool.

About the Xray wheels...are they offset? If so, how much? Can I just buy GRP premounted truggy tires, or will that change the width of the car? Also, this time, instead of someone just saying 'no' (real helpful, I've come to expect more from this forum  ), is there anything I should know about wheel size and offset when dealing with the XT8? Break in starts tomorrow (TM928), can't wait. Thanks for any info. 8) :D

I'm still curious 'how' the Thrax tires differ from the crimefighters...

the xray wheels are an off set of there own.
you can run non off set wheels ie proline and grp if you fit 6mm hub extenders from hobao or equivilent.
hope that is what you were after.
cheers
rich

Doesn't the zero offset wheels and the 6mm extenders still put you wider then the stock XT8 wheels and tires?

Has anyone used the JConcepts Mugen or Jammin body on the XT8 yet? Which one is a better fit?
