It seems alot of guys in the US are running the Kyosho blue springs or Mugen grays. Anyone heard if there will be optional softer springs available from Xray?

XRAY will bring the best to its customers. Recently the first feedback is collected and if there will be enough demand for softer springs, you can be sure XRAY will do what the customers need and ask for.

if they do option sway bars..why not springs?

When the team drivers are turning to other companies for springs to suit the US tracks, I think itneeds to be seriously looked at. After all, the rest of us go to them for setup advice and info.

From this very website people are instructed to use other manufacturer's springs on the setup sheets...

i think people are running those springs because previous experience with the other buggys has led them to believe that those springs are the ideal rate for the track they're running on!
who needs to waste time testing things when you have a "fix" in your toolbox :?:
i don't see it as an embarassment.
i see it as the factory drivers giving us the "real" up to date setups & various tuning options available to us

Exactly...they're doing a great job, and the feedback that they are giving is that due to the car being so lightit needs to be softened up to keep it planted.

That's why they are going to the softer springs.

Most of the XRAY U.S. Team have just recieved thier XB8's, as RC America got the kits to you, the customers first, and then to us. Gene and Greg were the first as they got their's for the Worlds. I'm not sure if they had the springs we have now.

Give us a little time to work with the set-ups and we'll give you all the scoop.

I can`t understand the discussion in here...as you can see on www.twf8.ws the springrates of the xray springs that come with the kit are the same like the blue kyoshos....

i bought some kyosho ones too before i got the kit? i sold them before i even used them. they are the same i just think people think they have to change stuff to make it "better" when all they have to do is stick w/ XB8 products. they are a diff. diameter also so you have to change the cups to the kyosho ones. the heck w/ that ill stick w/ xray

There is more to springs than there stiffness. That is why the people might be using the Kyosho and Mugen springs.

i understand that (# of coils ,length, ect) but you cant tell me it will make a big difference or even a small one if any. i compared them side by side and there is not a difference hardly at all. i just cant see changing xray parts for others? they built and tested this bug to the extreme and its fully hopped up as it is. "to each there own" all im saying is why spend money on stuff that really wont make a diff???

Running Xray light springs here and they work great, I will try softer springs if Xray makes them, but other than that I will make the car work with the ones supplied in the kit so all of you don't feel the urge to have to go and buy new springs for your new buggy when it is not needed.

As someone mentioned, they are running the springs because that is what they know. I know Dana and I will be testing a whole new suspension setup, you can pretty much throw out conventional 8th scale suspension on this car because of its weight and its centered weight. The car requires a much lighter weight in the rear than we are all used to, that I know for sure, I am running 300 Xray oil right now in the rear, I am not close to finding my standard setup though. More to come, and please don't be afraid to test wacky stuff yourself, very little translates over to this car from your past experience, you maybe suprised what you find.

Mario - Thanks for keeping your finger on the pulse.
