very difficult to get battery out to charge it. yes you can put it on the reciever side but I would like to see a redesign considering you really should remove a lipo to charge it and on my 808 i have to remove the exh spring to get the battery door back on. very tight fit, never liked that set up. also with lipos 140 degrees is MAX. leave your buggy in the car and you need to remove the lipo cause the car can easilly get to 150 degrees inside on a summer day. not a fun job to pull the battery out all the time.

I too use a lipo rx pack 2300mah, yes it's a tight fit. However redesigning a batt./rx tray is quite a tall order just accommodate a lipo rx pack. Lipo batteries do make different claims about temps. for their packs, this is mainly referencing high amp draw temps and charge temps. If your car is as you say 150 deg your internal temp of your lipo IS cooler.

A change made here affects and creates a problem for the next guy.

I also have the Nosram 2200 LiPo. It fits nicely, but I wrap in stretchy tape to protect it and make it sit there tightly. Nice thing with the tape is that you can change it every race, it gets a lot of wear from the dirt inside the battery box.

I personally don't like the Xray radio box. It doesn't keep dirt out and the battery box is also stupid. You have those nubs in the bottom in which the screws go that come from the bottom and you have the lid "hinge" that takes a lot of room from top etc... all those things rub the the battery if its not insulated properly and you don't have enough room there. I always have to seal the radio box with tape to keep the dirt and dust out, otherwise its chaos...

I would like to see a radio box that has rubber seals around the lid edges that make it dust and waterproof... just like high-end servos (Futaba etc). And that you have decent battery compartment with straight walls without any nubs and things pointing out and waiting to make a hole in your LiPo pack...

I just don't get why people have issues with the battery/ receiver box? Batteries fit in there snugly, and can be removed for charging. And there's loads of room for the receiver and wires.

The last thing I'd want XRAY to change is the design of the box, although having a box that's sealed with gaskets would be nice. Are there any other manufacturers that do this? It would increase the manufacturing cost considerably as you'd have to over-mould/ dual shot the lids as loose gaskets wouldn't work.

Would love to see a slightly taller battery compartment cover to accomodate A123 or Valence Li-FP cells. They currently fit but with no room for foam.

A friend of mine had serious Problems with the Lipo in the XT8

that was the little screw nub in the battery box. My new lipo had after 1st using signs of the screws in one corner. Tape wont last long and theres not enough room to use some high density foam....anyone tried another reciever Box??

could you warm the box up with a heat gun maybe and press it out a little to give you a bit more room?

hmm just saw that this is a 808 lipo thread....anyway..

I just cut out those 2 nubs...used Shoe goo to give the box more stability on the chassis.

Now its a clean and straight battery box.

i re wrap the battery in very thick heat shrink ,overlaping the ends and folding them in .i do understand where you are coming from with the wearing of the battery but i doubt that happend on 1 run ,if he noticed it like that then maybe he should have taken some action . when i was using normal 5 cell packs they showed wear in the same place and i replaced the shrink with good quality thick stuff ........maintance is everything in this hobby.

I have used both the LRP & the PROTECH LiPo for 6 months in the EC/XT8 & the 808 with no problems.

All I did was to put an extra piece of thick heat shrink on them. :D
