Last year our club had 7 members. We used an existing BMX track built over an old tip site. The land was given to us by the Brimbank Council and all the work has been solely by the club members with no donations or sponsorship.

We have had over 150,000 m3 of soil dumped to make a bowl with the sides approximately 12m in height from natural ground level.

We recently finished our new track inside the bowl and our membership just reached 80 members and growing rapidly. We expect to be at 100 members within the next month.

The track itself is made of 1400m3 of clay and undulating with the front tracks lower and progressively getting higher at the back to ensure good vision of the technical sections. The track takes up 3000m2, is 320m length and has full drainage. The pits are built out of precast concrete road barriers infilled with concrete including the ramps. Th drivers stand is just a 3.0 battered soil mound for the meantime. We have full permanent toilet facilities.

Check out the link below.

The track has been rolled substantially since the photo making it flat, smooth and blue grooved from our first meet.

So if you live in Melbourne and your new to RC we have a great club and track to race your Xray car at.

If you need more info our website is below.
http://www.morrcc.com

We race every second and fourth Sunday of the month. Registration at 8:00 am and racing starts at 9:00am. We have different classes including novice buggy, pro buggy, novice truggy, pro truggy, monster truck and 1/5 scale.

PS I'm in charge of Club Development and track building so I would appreciate any constructive comments on the track. The next job is the drivers stand, a rock crawling circuit and speedway track. :D

What the heck!

How do you see your car? That looks more like a Moto track not an RC track, lol.

For the driver stand you would need it in the middle and require drivers to turn full circle as they are racing, lol. Seriously man that thing is way too long on the back side and I have no idea how you could see your car.

Edwin, It's in Sunshine, only 20 min from Baccus Marsh.

We have already had our inaugural race but are planning another Judgement Night. Last year we had Australia's best turn up to race under lights and was on 4WD TV on SBS.

Judgement Night gives you 5 minute qualifiers with the quickest lap getting pole position. A lot of carnage but some super fast one off laps!

Whitey, from where the photo is taken we are building the drivers stand over the pits which should bring you forward about 4m or 12 foot. Put it this way most guys run 16 tooth clutchbells and down the back straight the back straight it sounds like F1 cars doing a pass.

We wanted to build a track that the US would consider big! We got sick of running adapted 1/10 scale tracks and believe this is what 1/8 scale racing cars should endure. This track is a proving ground for durability and probably why 80% are XRay and Mugen products.

I'll get some vids of the next race. Plenty of air time and huge pace. Funny thing is the Pro drivers are getting 40 second lap times.

Any OS visitors become free members. If your from the US, make sure you bring the promo girls and paid turnmarshals! :D

mate what a nice track, you guy must need a hell o a lot of marshals there, by the time they get to the car the race is finished :D . the track at Sydney's LRRCC is getting a face lift soon for the FEMCA and i hope it's as good as that.

cheers

Thanks for the kind responses.

We have put so many hours into it. 5 committee members were literally facing divorce. One member came home after the 8th weekend and his wife had packed his bags hid all his RC stuff!

We are lucky though as many members are very passionate about off road RC and also get the job done without to much angst.

Unfortunately, I missed a State Title and 6 weeks of racing to help. I've only raced BOB once and I was one of the first in the world to get it.

It's amazing how much off the pace you are when you have a large break.

BOB loves the large jumps though and few members accused me that the track was designed for BOB....

Where lucky because we have over 10 in every class now we are running RC scoring Pro and have plenty of people to marshal, but you surely get a work out. Now I can claim RC helps my fitness levels LOL!

Thanks again. :D

NIce Track,,looks like a blast. I see a couple car-dissapearing corners and blind spots ,but other than that, it is taking on a Worlds caliber look to it. Nice job to that group!.

Gotta get the drivers stand in close and up high, (20-30ft high) to cancel out the blind spots.

Keith,

Your Spot on there are a couple of blind corners and one camber on the hill climb that needs some rectification. It's a work in progress.

We are banking the corner after the left hand side double and modding the landing and entry ramps in that section to allow for better vision. We are also reversing the camber after the step up jump before the hill climb switchback.

We just got to a point where is was raceable and many members were getting towy so we threw down the ropes. We'll fix her over the next month though.

The track was designed by John Bateman and Ron Maya certainly helped us to achieve a Pro level track. We are lucky to have guys who have raced in the Worlds and many countries to give us a clear direction.

The Vic State Titles are in Castlemaine this year. We knocked them back because our club is too young and we knew we wouldn't have a drivers stand in time. Next year we are first on the list and I'm sure they will be here.

I'll let you guys know when we this years Judgement Night. Matty Griffen won lasts years event and said he'll be back this year.

Judgement nights in November and doesn't clash with any State Title events so we had 120 racers from around Australia. It started at 9:00 am and finished at 2am in the morning! This year we will have over 150 entries and spread it over two days. I'll keep you posted.

I say run a wire and a video camera over the middle then get a big projection screen so you can get play by plays, lol.

I give you big props for such hard work but I really do think it is a bit too big. Then again you could consider makreting it a RC/fitness track chasing the cars all the time. :)

What I like it more US style tracks and not that grass racing stuff, hehehe.

Good job by the way!

Whitey, it is BIG. In your terms 165 foot deep by 200 foot width. I love seeing peoples faces when they drive over the hill. What the ....!

However, its smaller than tracks in Sweden and few others we researched before we started building it. As long as we get the drivers stand right it will work out fine. I went to a smaller track on the weekend and it was a piece of cake compared to ours. This is going to be a good proving ground for our members and their driving skills.

The jumps in the middle behind the triple is called Las Vegas. It was copied from the indoor Las Vegas track a couple of years ago. It's huge and you can just make it at full noise. The name is fitting because it gives a distinct lap time advantage but it sure is a gamble.

With this new track we are picking up new Pro (sponsored drivers) from all over the state and so far have had a great response from those who have driven it.

The finishing touch I would like to see is a big XRay Banner across the rear fence. Mario, If you send me a banner I will ensure it gets prime position every race and well looked after. No sponsorship required, so ensure you get in before another manufacturer does:D

Hey guys, Dont listen to Tank Time hes too modest and wont take any praise for all the time and effort he has put into the track. I too am surprised that he has a kind wife who has an understanding heart and a sweet spot for his RC Addiction.

Thanks for introducing our track to the xray team Trent, another well made choice.

Hope you all like it and hope to race you all here one day soon at Judgement Night.

last years race started at 11 am saturday morning and finished at 2.30 am on Sunday Morning.....oh what a BUZzzzzzzzzzzzz Thats 14 hours of race time less a couple of minutes we all took to have something to eat. Phew...... :D

This is the new test track for Tank Time and I for our BOB's.....definately Testing.
